I am looking forward to our next event at Lorain County speedway with the Parade of Stars Vintage Late Model group. When I was a young person my Dad and brother Dennis used to go to this track to watch the Super Modified races. I still remember when it was converted to asphalt track and I thought it was much better racing . Well I am hoping that we can get a good turn out so we can put on our "Traveling Museum of Vintage Racing Cars" for the fans. I have have been watching the long range weather forecast and it keeps changing. Don t let that scare you off. It was supposed to rain at Attica,Waynesfield and Angola but mother nature held off the bad weather and I am looking for the same this weekend. As cold as it has been the last couple nights the 80 degree forecast for Saturday sure sounds inviting . If you are planning on the show drop me a note so I can put your name on the list that we will send to the track management.
If you don't have a car ready don't let that stop you from coming out and enjoying the show. Several drivers are in need of an assistant and we always need help in moving cars around from display to the track. If you contact me I can check on who might need a helper and get you assigned to that car. This is a great opportunity to get involved and get to know the other members of the group. The tracks offer two pit passes for each car that we present to the races and it would be a good way to help out our mission.
We have another event coming up on June 15 at Moler Speedway followed the next day with two events. The first on Saturday will be the Return of Thunder show that remembers the racing at the Old Portsmouth Speedway. This Show will be held at the Portsmouth High School this year and not at the camp ground. I will get more information on the times but we will be done in time to head to Atomic Speedway for the Saturday night program. You don't want to miss a chance to run on the Atomic Speedway as it has always been a great track and the management team there is great to work with. If you are planning to run these events drop me a note as I need the info to send to the tracks. Thanks Jim McDermott
Lorain County Speedway info Pit Gate opens at 3. Let's say 3:30. Parking will be to the left when entering the Pits. Each car has a concrete pad to park the race car on.
