Well its April 5, 2018 and it’s snowing in north east Ohio. You know what that means? Opening day for the Indians? Four days passed April fools day? Nope it means that it won’t be long before the VARC season opener at Attica Speedway. Have you had a chance to get your vintage race car out of the corner of the garage yet? Well its time to get started on this upcoming season and it just so happens that we have posted our new schedule on our web site and Facebook page. We will be sending out a pocket-sized addition soon.
The schedule was put together to make it possible for our members to have events in the area close to where they live. It is our hope that members take advantage of this and make as many shows as possible as your participation is what make our organization work. It would be our goal for each member to make at least 5 events this season as that will give us the car counts to put on a good display.
It is difficult to make all the show’s, but we have members that try to make many of the events. You might ask why, well because of the good time we have putting on our” Travelling Museum of Vintage Racing Cars”. It is just an enjoyable time with the racing fans and other members of the organization. It also gives you the opportunity to run your car on the famous racing tracks in our area. The history of the tracks we run on is truly exceptional. Most of the track have been around for many years and have had some of the sport’s most heroic and famous drivers run there. That is our stated mission. Keep the history of oval track racing alive by bringing the vintage cars to the fans of today.
We think this seasons series will be even better than last year which was very good. We had a large number of cars at many events. We were well received by the promoters and most fans when questioned said they enjoyed our cars and drivers. Can we do better? We think so. This will take the effort of our members so if you can look over the schedule and pick at least 5 events that you might be able to plan on attending
We are also looking to get new members to look at what we are all abou.t If you know of anyone with an interest in vintage cars and drivers fill them in on our mission and encourage them to get involved. If you know of prior members that have not been active help me get an invitation to them to “come on back”.
I am sure the snow will melt, and the sun will return so I will be getting ready to get the car out and checking it over. Hope to see you at the track…….. Jim McDermott
